Vit Plant Donates $23,000 to Toys for Tots and Bikes for Tikes

Team members at the Vit Plant gathered today to donate more than $23,000 in toys and cash to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots and Local 598’s Bikes for Tikes campaigns. Representatives from both organizations were at the Vit Plant jobsite to accept the donations.

“For more than a decade now, the Vit Plant and its employees have been key to ensuring we can meet the growing needs of families in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas,” said Glen Carter, local Toys for Tots coordinator and former Marine. “We are so grateful for their continued generosity and support for Toys for Tots.”

Of the $23,000 in donations, $18,000 was designated for Toys for Tots and included cash and toy donations, Amazon wishlist purchases, and fundraisers. The remaining $5,000 was donated to Local 598’s Bikes for Tikes and went toward purchasing 50 bikes and helmets. Representatives from the Local 598’s Bikes for Tikes organization also attended the event at the Vit Plant.

“We are incredibly proud of the Vit Plant’s long partnership with Toys for Tots and our part in helping make the holidays a little brighter for children in our area,” said Brian Hartman, Vit Plant project director and Bechtel Senior Vice President. “The Vit Plant companies – Bechtel and Amentum – and employees are committed to supporting our friends and neighbors in our community.”
