United Way Recognizes Vit Plant Leadership in Community

The United Way recognized Bechtel National Inc., Amentum and Bechtel Principal Vice President Rick Holmes for their commitment and positive impact on the Tri-Cities community during its Breakfast of Champions event today.

Volunteer of the Year

United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties CEO LoAnn Ayers honored Rick Holmes as Volunteer of the Year for 2021. This award recognizes the “dedication and engagement of an individual for extraordinary support” of the United Way’s mission. Holmes was the board chair during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. He is past board chair in 2022.

At the breakfast, Ayers noted the significant difference Holmes has made in the community and his mentorship and strategic advice during the pandemic. She also honored his wife, Joy Holmes, for her commitment to the community. Joy is a board member for the Children’s Reading Foundation and an active United Way volunteer. Awardees make a significant contribution through volunteer service, as a role model for others in the community, and by inspiring others to volunteer, according to the United Way.

Holmes is general manager of the Waste Treatment Completion Company, a limited liability company owned by Bechtel and Amentum performing work at the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant in Richland, Wash.
