Hanford Vit Plant employees, together with Bechtel and AECOM, donated thousands of toys and nearly $24,000 to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign today. The Vit Plant, formally known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, has participated in the campaign for more than 10 years.
“Our employees give generously to the community throughout the year, and it all culminates with the Toys for Tots campaign. With a large veteran population at the Vit Plant, I know they are proud to not only support local families in need, but the Marines and all they represent.”
Vit Plant employees and Bechtel designated $11,000 of the total donation to the Local 598 pipefitters’ annual Bikes for Tikes campaign. This year, the pipefitters are purchasing and assembling 600 bicycles and helmets for Toys for Tots.
“Every year, the generous donations from Bechtel, AECOM, and their employees help us fulfill our mission – to ensure every child within our program receives a toy this holiday season,” Michael Ridgel, local Toys for Tots coordinator said. “We are extremely grateful for their continued support.”
Local businesses Griggs/Ace Hardware and Vintners Logistics also contributed to the Vit Plant’s efforts. Griggs/Ace Hardware ensured the bicycle orders were fulfilled in time for Christmas delivery. Vintners Logistics will deliver the toys and bikes to Toys for Tots.
