Welcome to the Hanford Vit Plant! We are excited to have you as part of our organization. You play a critical role in fulfilling the mission of the Hanford Vit Plant – to help protect the Columbia River and surrounding Rivershore communities from dangerous nuclear waste leftover from World War II and the Cold War plutonium production. It’s with your help we meet our mission. Here, you will find various resources to help you begin your orientation process including getting to know our organization, our values, and our mission. This site provides the essential information, directions, and checklists to begin your journey of joining us. Before your First Day:
Prepare your documentation
- Bring acceptable I-9 document(s)
- Bring acceptible citizenship verification documentation
- Dual Documents Needed: * First and Last Names must match when more than one document is used to verify citizenship/identity
- State issued U.S. birth certificate
- Certificate of naturalization
- Certificate of citizenship
- Report of birth abroad of a U.S. citizen (form FS-240)
- Certificate of birth (form FS-545 or DS 1350)
- DD form 1966 (if it reflects U.S. Citizenship)
- Single Document Needed:
- Enhanced driver license
- U.S. passport
- Dual Documents Needed: * First and Last Names must match when more than one document is used to verify citizenship/identity

The main door can be found at the west entrance of the MPF. Doors unlock at 7 a.m.

Project Office North Annex (PONA)
2505 Garlick Boulevard

Sign outside North Entrance Arrival at North side of PONA, NW entrance doorway. North Entrance –recommend parking on this side. Follow the signs for Construction Orientation. Check in with Security officer to get temporary badge. (★ Security office)

Work Schedules
Review your Welcome Email for first day reporting guidance and contact your supervisor regarding any schedule changes.
- Many employees in town are on a 9/80’s schedule Monday – Thursday with every other Friday off.
- Many employees on site are on a 4/10’s schedule Monday – Thursday.
- Shift schedules 4/12’s, 4 days on, 4 days off, variation of days/nights, straight days, or straight nights.

Lunch Options
- Keurig® coffee machines are available for employee use at various locations. Make sure to bring your favorite K-Cup Pod!
- Micro Markets (small convenience-like stores) are located in several different locations including the MPF. At the PONA you will find vending machine options, microwaves and refrigerators.

What identification documents do I need to bring on my first day?
- To complete your I-9 and citizenship verification for your DOE badge, please bring original, unexpired documents. Acceptable forms include a state-issued U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport, or other specified government documents.
Where should I report on my first day, and what are the parking arrangements?
- Check your Welcome Email to confirm your reporting location. Common first-day locations include the Multi-Purpose Facility (MPF) and Project Office North Annex (PONA), each with designated parking areas and specific entry instructions.
What should I bring with me for the first day?
- Along with your identification documents, consider bringing a water bottle, snacks or lunch, and any necessary personal items, as microwave and refrigerator access are available.
What is the dress code for the Hanford Vit Plant?
- Dress codes vary based on location and role. Please review guidance in your orientation materials or contact your supervisor if you have questions about appropriate attire.
What are the available lunch options at the orientation locations?
- The MPF as well as several other town locations offer Micro Market options. The PONA has vending machines as well as microwaves and refrigerators. Feel free to bring your own K-Cup for the Keurig coffee machines available throughout the intown locations.
Who should I contact if I have questions before my start date?
- Your primary point of contact is the HR representative listed in your offer letter. They can assist with any questions and coordinate any needed resources or information.
