In southeastern Washington state, Bechtel National, Inc., is designing and constructing the world’s largest vitrification facility to convert radioactive waste stored in underground tanks to solid glass. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, also known as the Vit Plant, is located on the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site, near Richland, Washington. As the project shifts from engineering, procurement and construction to startup and commissioning, additional positions are being posted and filled to take the plant through commissioning and into operations.
